I read your article about how pupils who spend time on Facebook do worse in exam. You have mentioned several important things about what happened to pupils who have wasted long hours on Facebook. I am in total agreement with what you have said, because they are some of the same reasons that I have.
Firstly, using Facebook can be a good source of communication where you can stay in touch with Facebook friends and family. Facebook is very easy to use; it is free, and also very basic. However according to this statistics 65 per cent of Facebook users accessed their account daily. By doing this they are spending quality time on something very basic when this time could be used for something more productive. That’s why many pupils, especially young people are failing in school. Definitely, Facebook is the reason many young people have left their school work to the last minute and they produce low quality work. If this problem is not addressed, I agree with you that 68 percent of student will have a significantly lower grade point than average.
Secondly, in your article you described Facebook as a unique phenomenon. This is in fact a reality as every youngster wants to access their profile as well as friends` profile. This type of behaviour is unacceptable because it`s harmful for their lives. It takes too much time from our lives, and also it will be bad for them. It’s so bad and so harmful for their lives. People must learn to live real life, and they mustn’t spend too much time on Facebook. We must use it smartly, or we must use it for communication for a short time. Facebook when used in an appropriate way can provide entertainment. On the other hand if it is used in appropriately, it can be tragic.
Furthermore, it is surprising to learn that a study carried out by a National Literacy Trust showed that one in five youngsters between the age of 15 to 16 never read books outside school. Imagine a society where very few young people are able to read because they think that Facebook is better than reading books. Reading books provide us with valuable skills great imagination. Therefore, by refusing to read many young people will not have great imagination and this will affect their performance. Young people must realize that Facebook is not the answer. We need to show them that it is not the answer by encouraging them to spend less time on Facebook and learning to live real life.
Finally, having read your article, I understand that many young people in today`s society are wasting their time, but it will not come back. They need to understand that Facebook should only be used for communication at the right time, and they will learn how happy will they, when they don’t use too much Facebook.
